The event will run from10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and gives businesses and organizations a chance to show the community what they are doing and what they have to offer. Punk’s Place of Candor will be providing food and beverages throughout the day.

There will be drawings, flowers for the ladies, the Balloon Man for the kids, two $50 gas cards and much, much more.

The first talk in February by Society President Milton Dougherty covered the formation of the Town from European discovery of the North American continent to the “setting aside” of Candor’s boundaries in 1811. The second talk in the series will continue Candor’s history by focusing on the hearty pioneers that moved into the area and settled in the Town.

This talk will be presented by Nancy Ward Riggs who, as a direct descendent of one of the original families, has researched the background of many of the first settlers. In a power point presentation Riggs will show how rapidly the town population increased, where the settlers came from and the interconnection of some of the families.

Utilizing her teaching background and information she developed for local history lessons for her students she will show examples of how early inhabitants were able to build structures for living and working on previously unsettled land.

This “Historic Talk” will be given on April 27^th at 7:00PM at the Candor Fire Hall. It is free and open to the public with refreshments being served after the talk. Historical Society fund raising items will be available for purchase. Town Historian Carol Henry will also have her most recent book, “Town of Candor – Yesterday and Today” and the Bicentennial Calendar, available.
